Women who wish to change the size and shape of their breast can choose a breast augmentation procedure. This popular choice can increase self-confidence by changing the proportions of a woman’s figure. Breast augmentation not only allows a plastic surgeon to increase bra size, but allows for a reshaping and added integrity to the breast by filling the skin envelope with a larger volume. These procedures include breast implants and lifts.
Receiving the diagnosis of breast cancer can be a very emotional experience. Fortunately, there are several options for patients with regard to breast reconstruction. Creating a breast, or breasts, that feel and look natural is our goal. The emotional benefit of feeling whole again is an important component in the recovery from breast cancer.
A flat stomach is essential for a physically-fit appearance. In many instances, despite regular exercise and proper diet, the desired abdominal shape cannot be attained. Abdominoplasty, or Tummy Tuck, is a cosmetic procedure designed to remove excess skin and fat from the abdomen and also provide access to tighten and reshape the abdominal wall architecture to produce a slimmer-looking appearance.
Liposuction is a very important tool for contouring the body. It provides a means for removing unwanted fat under the skin to change the overall shape of a particular body part without direct excision and long scars. Liposuction is commonly used to create slender lines for the abdomen, thighs and buttocks, and is often used in combination with other procedures such as breast reduction, abdominoplasty, and body lifts.
Body lift, also known as a belt lipectomy, is like a facelift for the center body. It offers the most dramatic transformation of the mid and lower body. The procedure is performed to remove the excess skin or fatty tissue that exists as a result of age or extreme weight loss and lifts the remaining tissues. More extensive surgery than the tummy tuck, the body lift is performed on the lower torso, buttocks and upper lateral thighs to re-establish a more normal hourglass shape.
An arm lift, also known as brachioplasty, reduces excess skin and fat between the underarm and the elbow; reshapes your arm to result in smoother skin and contours; and results in a more toned and proportionate appearance. After significant weight loss or aging, people often feel self-conscious about the appearance of their upper arms. An arm lift can correct these conditions by giving the arms a more appealing shape and feel.
Patients who undergo massive weight loss either from surgery or from lifestyle changes can experience a significant loss of elasticity of their skin of the medial and/or lateral thighs. These conditions most times cannot be improved with liposuction alone and would require excision of excess tissue and repositioning the tissue to a high level with anchorage with the pubic bone fascia. Depending on the degree of excess skin the incisions can be within the groin creases or more commonly after significant weight loss a vertical incision from the groin all the way to the knee on the inner aspect of the leg is required.

Restoring balance to the face is key to the facial rejuvenation process. The youthful face has projection of the cheeks with a fat pad being situated near the cheek bone prominence. The jaw line is sleek and sculpted with an acute line angle with the neck and chin. The process of restoring balance to the face is dependent on the individual face, skin quality, and the underlying skeletal features of the face.
Procedures include: cheek implants, chin implants and enhancements of other aspects of the lower jaw, and genioplasty. This is an area of aesthetic plastic surgery often overlooked by many surgeons because of their lack of experience in this field. Because of Dr. Lucas’ extensive background in craniofacial surgery, he has a unique ability to evaluate patients and perform these unique procedures with precision.
The nose, by virtue of the position on the face, has a major impact on profile and balance with the rest of the facial features. It may appear excessively large if grouped with other aspects of the face that may be deficient in size such as a small upper jaw or a chin point that is retruded with respect to the rest of the face. As in other aspects of facial aesthetics, placing the nose in balance with surrounding structures is critical.
Dr. Lucas offers corrective surgery for prominent ear deformity and traumatic earlobe deformities. Prominent ear deformity occurs at birth and is related to a lack of development of the antihelical fold and/or excessive conchal cartilage. Traumatic earlobe deformities are frequently the result of wearing excessively large earrings or from young children taking an interest in their mother’s jewelry and yanking on the ear.
