Refreshing Smoothie Recipes for a Healthy Summer

There’s nothing better than a cold, tasty beverage to off-set the summer heat! When temperatures are high and you’re looking for a delicious (yet healthy) treat, try one of these refreshing smoothie recipes to cool off with confidence…

Coconut Cooler
1 cup frozen pineapple chunks
5 frozen strawberries
2 Tablespoons chia seeds
Coconut water

Mango Tango
1 cup frozen mango chunks
Zest from half a lime
1 teaspoon lime juice
½ cup frozen pineapple chunks
Orange juice

Berry Green
1 ½ cups frozen berry blend
1 ½ cups fresh spinach leaves
½ green apple
½ avocado

Cinna-nana
1 ½  frozen banana
¼ teaspoon cinnamon
1 ½ tablespoons nut butter of choice
Unsweetened vanilla almond or oat milk

Minty Fresh
1 cup frozen peaches
½ cup frozen raspberries
1 orange, peeled
Brewed, cooled green tea
Fresh mint
Honey to taste

Creamy Carrot
1 cup frozen blueberries
1 ½ cups chopped baby kale
1-2 large carrots, shredded
Blueberry kefir yogurt or greek yogurt

To Ice or Not to Ice?

Blending frozen fruit into your smoothies will get them to a nice consistency and perfect temperature. But if your produce is fresh instead of frozen, you’ll want to include ice to make it colder without being too heavy. As a bonus, ice adds extra hydration! Win, win.
