A Letter to Mothers: You Deserve to Feel Your Best

Moms, it’s no secret that you work hard. From childbirth to caring for your family, your mind and body probably feel like they’re on constant overload (ours sure do sometimes!).

First and foremost, we’d like to thank you. Thank you for all that you do. And in case no one’s reminded you lately, it matters. The little things that you do every day matter. The truth is, the world would be a much different place without moms!

Ask yourself… “when was the last time I put myself first?” We know it may seem like a daunting, selfish thing to do, but it’s not. Taking care of yourself is important. Self-care plays a critical role in not only your happiness, but the happiness of those around you.

Let’s be clear about something… when we say you deserve to “put yourself first,” we mean treat yourself, girl! Do whatever it is that makes you feel confident and GOOD again. Yes, kids can be costly and time-consuming, but loving them doesn’t mean we have to love ourselves less.

We’re all about honesty at The Lucas Center, so we want to be completely transparent with you… right now, you’re setting an example for your child. Think about that. Really take a moment to imagine what they see when they look at you. Is it confidence? Is it self-love? And if it is, is it real?

Now, this isn’t to suggest that all mothers feel horrible about themselves and should get plastic surgery. In fact, cosmetic and plastic surgery isn’t right for everybody. We know that, and so does Dr. Lucas. It’s why he sits down with each and every patient to discuss their health, goals, and reasons for coming in during every personalized consultation.

Whether it’s cosmetic or reconstructive, plastic surgery is best suited for men and women who believe in its power to change their life. Every day, we see moms just like you leave our office significantly happier than when they walked in. Their smiles are a little bit wider and their heads are held just a little bit higher. But before coming to us, they made a choice.

These moms CHOSE to believe in the power of self-care. By visiting us and learning more about their bodies, they opted to improve their appearance and, in turn, the way they feel about themselves. That then changes the way they present themselves to others and creates an overall sense of accomplishment and worth.

At the end of the day, you are worthy. You are valuable and unique and beautiful just the way you are. But if you don’t believe that, it will show. The insecurities and stress and worrying… it all shows up in your personality and on your body, especially when you live the chaotic life of a mother.

Being a mom is hard enough. Don’t make it harder by forgetting to put yourself first every once in awhile. Whether it’s a date night out or a trip to The Lucas Center, you deserve it. And hey, if you think a cosmetic change is what you’re looking for, us ladies will be here with open arms to help.

Real confidence really can start at The Lucas Center.

With love,

— The “Lucas Ladies” (Jackie, Wendy, and Nikki)
