How Abdominoplasty Can Help

Electing to have an abdominoplasty can help create a smoother, firmer abdominal profile, enhancing both appearance and confidence. A tummy tuck can offer significant benefits for patients of different ages and body types, including: a flatter, more toned abdomen that aligns with their unique aesthetic goals.

Additionally, patients can typically expect improved core strength, thanks to the tightening of weak or separated abdominal muscles, as well as long-lasting results with proper nutrition and exercise. As a result of this surgery, we hope patients feel more confident than ever! Whether you're entering a new phase of life or simply wanting to look your best every day, The Lucas Center for plastic surgery is here to help.

The Surgery Process

Our team at The Lucas Center takes a comprehensive and personalized approach to each tummy tuck procedure. During your consultation at our Knoxville office, Dr. Lucas will discuss your goals and assess your abdominal area to create a tailored surgical plan for you. The procedure itself involves making an incision, removing excess skin and fat, and tightening the abdominal muscles, ensuring minimal scarring and optimal results.

Post-surgery, Dr. Lucas will provide you with detailed aftercare instructions to ensure a smooth and effective recovery, whether you live in East Tennessee or are traveling back home after the procedure.

What is the recovery time?

Recovery from a tummy tuck typically involves several stages. Most patients can return to work and light activities after at least 2 weeks, although strenuous activities should be avoided for about 6 weeks, at which point most patients can expect to see complete results. Normal swelling and bruising are to be expected, as well as the use of a compression garment for about 6 weeks to maintain results.

Following guidelines provided by board-certified plastic surgeons like Dr. Lucas is a great way to ensure a swift recovery. Long term, maintaining a healthy lifestyle for your body can help preserve your tummy tuck results to keep you feeling your best longer.

Who’s a candidate for this surgery?

Candidates include those with excess abdominal skin, weakened abdominal muscles, or fat that doesn't respond to diet and exercise. However, individual health and personal goals vary. The only way to be certain you are a tummy tuck candidate is through a personalized, in-person consultation and evaluation of these areas.

What are the risks involved?

As with any surgery, there are risks including infection, bleeding, and scarring. Dr. Lucas will discuss all potential risks and how to minimize them during your consultation.
