3 Plastic Surgery Myths Debunked

Factual information is incredibly important… especially when it comes to procedures you’re considering having done! There is an endless amount of information at our fingertips these days, but so much of it is inaccurate.

Let’s take a look at three common myths in the plastic surgery industry and break down the truth behind each one…

Myth 1: An eye lift will cure droopy eyes.

Debunked: No… and yes? It’s true, an eye lift is a major piece of the puzzle of remedying droopy eyes, but an eye lift alone may not be all you need. Reaching your aesthetic goals will likely require a brow lift, too, so that the upper part of your eyes match what the eye lift has done for the lower half of them.

During a personalized consultation with a board-certified surgeon like Dr. Lucas, you’ll have the chance to discuss your unique goals in depth and learn how to really get the results you want.

Myth 2: Coolsculpting is an easy way to tighten loose skin.

Debunked: This is just not the answer… to anything. It really isn’t a viable solution for long-term aesthetic results. Recently, Cryolipolysis (CoolSculpting) has received a lot of attention due to advertising and media coverage. Though the idea of a non-surgical, fat-freezing procedure appeals to many, CoolSculpting actually requires a larger time commitment and significant cost with very limited results

The takeaway is this: CoolSculpting has no lasting effect on loose skin. Because no matter how hard a person tries, it’s not possible to exercise loose skin away after weight loss. Loose skin has to be removed, not reduced, which can be achieved through a Tummy Tuck (or Post-Bariatric Body Contouring if applicable). This kind of procedure focuses on removing the excess skin and creating a precise, desired appearance.

Myth 3: A Breast Augmentation will make your breasts perkier.

Debunked: A Breast Lift is what will solve drooping or sagging breasts. Often, a Breast Lift and Augmentation are done simultaneously because each provides unique results in achieving your desired outcome.

Breasts can become droopy for a lot of reasons—changes in weight, pregnancy, breastfeeding, gravity. They can even droop because of genetics.

The size of your breast is not surgically related to the shape of it. If you want perkier breasts, you’ll need a breast lift. It’s up to you (and a board-certified surgeon) whether or not to opt for the additional augmentation.
